Rakhi Sawant booked by Amravati police

A case has been registered against Rakhi Sawant in Amravati district of Maharashtra for allegedly hurting the religious sentiments of a particular community.

The case under section 295 of IPC (injuring or defiling place of worship, with intent to insult the religion of any class) was registered with Frezarpura police station in the district after a group of people staged protest against Rakhi on Monday.

According to the protesters, Rakhi was shown in a bathtub in a TV show against the background of a statue of Lord Buddha.

The protesters also burnt Rakhi’s effigy and shouted slogans against her.

No further action has been taken on the matter, Frezarpura police said on Tuesday.
