Rakhi to play the green-eyed witch

Bollywood’s item girl to make ramp debut in a horror-themed fashion show.
This is a real case of beauty and the beast. For the first time, models will walk the ramp dressed in, hold your breath, horror masks, blood-stained outfits and fiend-friendly wear at a one-ofits-kind horror-themed fashion show at the recently opened House of Horror in Ville Parle.

And the icing on the cake is the show stopper - Rakhi Sawant, who will be dressed as a modernised witch! When asked how she felt about making her ramp debut, she admitted to being really nervous. “But I don’t mind making my ramp debut as a witch as long as the presentation is good. And I’m told my outfit is decent.” And would she take up more offers to strut her stuff on the ramp in future. “I’d love to but I’m just 5′5″ which is a little short for a model.”

Designer Rohit Verma, who has designed the outfits and choreographed the show, admits that the clothes are not “entirely wearable”, but says that a lot of planning and creativity has gone into the show. So while models will wear classic outfits, their faces will be, well, masked. A collection inspired by the ‘Jungle’ will showcase deep greens and browns, while the ‘Graveyard Shift’ line is inspired by the concept of karma.

“The line has Victorian ball gowns and bustiers, but with weird cuts and lines that symbolise evil,” explains Rohit. The third assemblage - ‘ aptly titled Blood Red’ - will understandably be blood-centric: read deep red gowns coupled with dark make-up . “Red signifies both blood and danger,” says Rohit.

The concept is unique, and so will be its implementation. “It’s going to be a dramatic show, with lanterns looming large on the ramp, eery sound effects and accessories like the Cross, knives and daggers,” says Rohit.

Satish Reddy, owner, House of Horror, says, “We thought of doing something different and decided to match horror with beauty, two complete opposites.”
