Rakhi shakes, 20s style!

Now that he’s done shooting for his period horror film 1920, Vikram Bhatt feels that it lacks something: an item number.

Bringing colour

Instead of having ghostly creatures doing a jig, the director has roped in Rakhi Sawant. “It is a dark thriller and I am the only colourful thing in it,” says Rakhi who began shooting for the track at a bungalow in Borivili yesterday.

As the film is set in the 1920s, the item song, too, has a distinct feel of that era. Called Bichua, the track has been rendered by Shubha Mudgal to Adnan Sami’s music and has been choreographed by Raju Khan.

Only Rakhi

Adds Bhatt, “There is no one better to do an item number than Rakhi. She alone can exude that energy required for such a dance. People have seen Rakhi dancing in a modern set-up, this portrays her in a yesteryear get-up.”

The track is set in the Paratha Gully of Chandni Chowk, which bustled during the 1920s. Reza has styled Rakhi for the song. To add to the Bichua song, Rakhi will also sport a scorpion tattoo.

“Even my make-up is of the purana zamaana. I have never danced in such a setting before, so the audience will see me in a distinct set-up,” adds Rakhi.

Produced by Surendra Sharma of ASA Films, 1920 stars newbies Rajneesh Duggal and Adah Sharmam. It is slated for a July release.

Rakhi’s other B-Town items
An item number in Rakesh Roshan’s Krazzy 4, currently on air, has Rakhi go Dekhta Hai Tu Kya. Ask her about the reaction to this number and she replies, “Bichua! That’s what got me another item number in Vikram Bhatt’s film.”

An item number in a Yash Raj project. According to Rakhi, this will happen later.
