‘Rakhi Ka Swayamvar’ most watched show

NDTV Imagine’s reality show ‘Rakhi Ka Swayamvar’ has achieved something no other show has this year by raking in the most viewers on Indian television.

As per official statistics from audience measuring body TAM, the grand finale of ‘Rakhi Ka Swayamvar Faisle Ki Raat’ garnered a whopping TVR of 8.4 for the channel on Sunday 2nd August between 21:00 – 23:30.

‘Rakhi Ka Swayamvar’ that hit the television screen on Monday 29th June witnessed the best non-fiction opening with a TVR of 4.1, until ‘Sach Ka Saamna’ launched on STAR Plus. But the show did what it was created for. It gave NDTV Imagine a major upward push. The channel which was hovering around the 100 GRP (gross rating points) mark on a weekly basis, before the launch of the show, zoomed up by over 25 GRPs per week.

Overall, the show that was spread over a 6-week span fared an average of 2.8 TVR.

A senior media planner informed Exchange4Media, “This is the highest score for a non-fiction show all year. In fact, the panel change in TAM Media Research’s data in 2009 notwithstanding, this is the highest ever that a non-fiction show has rated in the last two years. The show has done very well for NDTV Imagine and proves that the audience is there to bring these kinds of numbers to any channel if the right kind of content is placed.”

The channel has decided to milk all the publicity around the couple, and has roped in them to contest in their upcoming reality show, ‘Pati Patni or Woh’, which is adaption of international format show ‘Baby Borrowers’.
