It witnessed a host of high profile people like the US Consulate General Micheal Owen being the chief guest along with Sharon Prabhakar, Siddharth Kannan, Viren Shah, Brinda Parekh, Aamir Ali and many more.

Bollywood’s item girl to make ramp debut in a horror-themed fashion show.
This is a real case of beauty and the beast. For the first time, models will walk the ramp dressed in, hold your breath, horror masks, blood-stained outfits and fiend-friendly wear at a one-ofits-kind horror-themed fashion show at the recently opened House of Horror in Ville Parle.
And the icing on the cake is the show stopper - Rakhi Sawant, who will be dressed as a modernised witch! When asked how she felt about making her ramp debut, she admitted to being really nervous. “But I don’t mind making my ramp debut as a witch as long as the presentation is good. And I’m told my outfit is decent.” And would she take up more offers to strut her stuff on the ramp in future. “I’d love to but I’m just 5′5″ which is a little short for a model.” Continue reading ‘Rakhi to play the green-eyed witch’
There was an unusual visitor at the BMC headquarters to meet Commissioner Jairaj Phatak on Friday. Item girl Rakhi Sawant had a civic item on her agenda this time.
“Despite repeated complaints from Oshiwara residents in Serenity Complex, the place where I live, Phatak had time to only visit Oshiwara for a club inauguration 4 days back. After today’s meeting, we have some hope. There are open drains outside my gate. Two children were injured after they fell into the gutter,” said Sawant.
“Our corporator, Rajul Patel, has told us that she will not do any work in our area as we do not vote for her.”

‘I’d rather die than kiss on-screen’
0 Comments Published by Rakhi Sawant June 10th, 2007 in InterviewsTHERE’S ONE thing about Rakhi Sawant that no one can deny. She knows how to surprise, and shock. The lady, who is much in news these days, had a surprise appearance in the multi-starcast Shootout At Lokhandwala.
To know more about what other surprises Rakhi has up her sleeve, we engaged her into a casual chat and came up with some interesting answers that only Rakhi is capable of. Excerpts from an interview:
We saw you in Shootout At Lokhandwala. It was a very interesting appearance!
{Laughs} Yes. The makers suddenly called up and I just did it. It didn’t take much time, so I was there. I did it mainly because Amitabh Bachchan was in the movie. I love him.
Did you meet Amitabh Bachchan then?
No. The day I meet him I will be the happiest person. I will tell the media myself. You won’t have to ask. I am so unlucky. I got a chance to work with him in a Bhojpuri film directed by Deepak Sawant. But I had to walk out as the producer of the movie didn’t behave well with me. He wanted me to act in another movie which I didn’t like. Continue reading ‘‘I’d rather die than kiss on-screen’’
Finally, I have arrived. And it’s all thanks to Rakhi Sawant. I have been basking in her reflected glory ever since I appeared with her recently on the ‘Big Fight’. She’s an eyeball-grabber, so they kept telecasting the show - and my sms inbox sizzled like an item number. The messages were divided on gender lines. The men drooled in mock envy.
The ‘mock’ was naam ke vaastey; the envy was as obvious as cleavage. The women sniffed in disdain. There was nothing mock about that either; their envy was see-through. My ratings have gone up so much courtesy this co-appearance, maybe i should put it on my CV.
I was positioned with Spitfire Sawant on one side and, on the other, a Dia Mirza dripping icicles of class rage. In fact, it soon deteriorated into a Rakhi vs The Rest show. Shaina NC clambered on to her BJP high ground, turning her back on her other, high-fashion persona. Continue reading ‘The importance of being Rakhi Sawant’
She is one person who hasn’t hidden her antecedents. Instead item girl RAKHI SAWANT, known for her in-your-face statements and provocative dressing, has decided to add yet another worthy cause to her list.
And this time it’s not for animals courtesy PETA, where she was painted into a tigress and prowled about in a cage to attract attention.
Sawant has now decided that the people of her building society could do with some of her “fame and name” and has threatened to sit on a hunger strike if the Mumbai municipal body fails to rectify the flooding patterns repeated year after year. Continue reading ‘Worthy causes’
